The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) is set to begin a $362 million reconstruction and widening of the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway in Spring 2026. This critical infrastructure project will add one lane in each direction, aiming to alleviate congestion and improve safety along the six-mile corridor.
Beyond increased capacity, the project includes community enhancements such as redesigned underpasses with and new noise walls, to better integrate the expressway with surrounding neighborhoods. Construction will be phased to minimize traffic disruptions.
